Richard H. Seaton, Sr.
Dick Seaton is the firm's senior partner, with 43 years experience in
the state and federal courts. He concentrates in employment and school
law, probate and estate planning, and commercial and civil litigation.
He carries the highest rating (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell.
Dick has extensive appellate experience before the Tenth Circuit and
the Kansas Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. He has appeared twice
in the U.S. Supreme Court, most recently in Umbehr v. County Commissioners
representing the successful plaintiff in a free speech case. As a result
of that case, he was named a lawyer of the year by Lawyers Weekly U.S.A.
Dick is general counsel for Kansas State University, where he focuses
on civil rights, employment, constitutional and administrative law.
He serves on the Board of Editors of the Kansas Bar Journal, and is
a former chairman.
